Hi Activist Collab Team!
As many of you know, I am a Producer and Director working in film & television in New York. I started The Activist Collab through my production company Do Good Films initially as part of a documentary project. Although that project hasn’t gotten off the ground quite yet, I do have something new I wanted to share with you!
In a few weeks, Do Good Films is launching a new podcast and newsletter called: HOW TO WORK IN FILM & TV.
The podcast each week will feature interviews with crew members working in the film business. They will be telling their stories and offering their advice about how to get into the industry (which is notoriously hard to break into!).
I will be talking to - Producers, Editors, Animators, Casting Directors, Sound Mixers, Key Grips - all the titles you see in the end credits of films - so you get a better understanding of what they do and how you can do it too!
In addition there will be a weekly newsletter you can subscribe to that recaps that week’s podcast plus has job listings, programs to apply to and special offers like screenings and events to attend.
You may have heard lots of talk about the diversity and equity problem in Hollywood in recent years. Pulling back the curtain and revealing how the business works and how to actually get a job feels like a very important way to address that, so here goes!
I am emailing this group for two reasons:
Many of you are figuring out your career path and this might be something helpful for you to learn about. It will be full of practical information they don’t teach in film school!
I would LOVE for you to send in questions for me to ask guests. You can leave a voice message at the link below and we will answer them on the podcast.
Questions can be about anything related to working in the business. This is your chance to ask people actually doing it every day.
My first guests are Producers and Assistant Directors working on television shows like Blue Bloods (CBS) and Succession (HBO), commercials & documentaries (Vogue, Save the Elephants), Animators working on feature films (Disney), Comedy Writers working on late night show, Casting Directors and more. You can also send requests asking to hear from a specific profession you would like to know more about too.
I will follow up with a launch date but wanted to send this out to this group now to see if I could answer some of your questions in the early episodes we launch! Feel free to email me with any questions you might have too - ashley@dogoodfilms.com
THANK YOU and hope to hear from those of you interested!!
I have been an activist for decades. Your focus needs to be on the Bank for International Settlements, the Tavistock Institute for Human Relations, UN Agenda 21, and Communitarian Law. Otherwise, you’re not actually doing anything worthwhile.
